Every minute 7 people get hired on LinkedIn. Wonder how you could be one?

Being just there on the platform doesn’t ensure you a job. More than 9000 People apply for jobs every minute on LinkedIn. Standing out of this sea of applicants is easy and challenging at the same time. Your LinkedIn profile is your first impression on any recruiter whether you’re actively searching for a job or just open for better opportunities, optimizing your profile in such a way that attracts the hiring team is your go to strategy.

Here we will guide you on how a recruiter would notice your Profile while they are searching for a right fit and how you can ensure that your profile reaches to the right HR Personnel and how you can ensure that your chances of getting noticed are maximized.

Why LinkedIn is so important today? Come on, we all know it. Cut the crap. But if you’re still not convinced, here’s the deal: building the right skills is an important thing but showcasing them is more important. Showcasing your skillset on LinkedIn is the best way to market yourself. LinkedIn is a platform where both the recruiters and job seekers meet. But it’s just not limited to that only, the actual challenge is to make the perfect match! It’s not that there are no or lesser opportunities rather finding the ideal candidate is the challenge recruiters face these days. To minimize this challenge there’s only one solution and that is, candidates must revamp their profiles so they are visible to the recruiters when there’s an opportunity. Moving forward here are some ways that you can use to increase your visibility. Profile Picture: The first impression Profile picture is your first impression but could be the last one as well. Having a profile picture that is not blur or has some funky filter, is something which we wouldn’t recommend. A clear headshot with a smile would be perfect! Consider using a minimalist background that isn’t so vibrant that it distracts from your face. Keywords: The keys to success

Keywords are used to describe yourself or your skills. E.g. Data Analyst, Product Designer, Qualitative Research, Time Management etc. These keys are used by the headhunters when they are in search of their “Ideal Candidate”. Placing these keywords on your profile would surely increase your chances of getting noticed.

Ever wondered why some profiles are on top? That’s the use of effective keywords. Researching job posts on LinkedIn and profiles in your field would help you in finding the right keywords for your skillset. When highlighting your experience of your previous or ongoing job add the skills, as a keyword, that you have practiced and learned there. Adding these keywords on your headline also, increases your chances of getting noticed. By doing this you just make HR’s work easier. Certain areas you can add keywords in, your headline, job title and summary.

CaMeL CaSe in the Titles

People often make this mistake that they don’t know where to use block letters and where not to. Making these mistakes puts a bad impression on the headhunters. Knowing how to and when to use capital words is a skill that we need to learn. Whenever we need to emphasize on a skill or keyword we capitalize the first letter. For example, Jhon is a Recruiter, here Recruiter is his title so, we capitalize the first alphabet.

AI: A friend indeed

Nowadays everybody has the access to AI. Wonder why someone’s post didn’t get much attention? That’s because using AI in writing is noticeable the moment you read it. People like to read something that is original and has had some effort put into it.

While using AI in writing your summary or a post, always remember to change some words of your AI curated information or in the ideal case scenario use AI just to take ideas. Using AI to correct the sentence structure is also not a bad idea, first write on your own and then paste it on AI to eliminate any grammatical errors.

Experience section & certifications While adding your experience in the experience section don’t just add the job titles rather consider adding a brief experience of what were your responsibilities at that role. Also, quantify your achievements. For example, led a team of 10 or proven experience of increasing the sales by 30%. This adds an impression that whatever you did had a quantifiable outcome.

Adding your certifications and degrees with a brief explanation of key learnings is highly recommended. Certifications related to latest industry trends highlights continuous learning and commitment towards professional growth. Pronunciation  While you are recording your pronunciation make sure that you’re not on a road or you have people chirping around, make sure there are no background noises. Also, speak slowly and clearly so, that its easy to interpret every bit of your name’s alphabets. So, whenever someone tries to pronounce your name, they at least don’t say something silly.

Justifying career breaks

If you took a break from the hustle of this fast-moving era, that’s more than fine. Rather we would appreciate that, as it increases productivity and fosters creativity. But not specifying it on your profile is not a great idea.

Specify sabbatical breaks on your profile along with the reason like, Mental peace (Self-Care) and Professional Development (upskilling).

Final thoughts While concluding, by just creating an easy-to-understand profile, by that we mean your profile must have your top skills, experiences and the required certifications at the designated places, your visibility to the HR’s would increase and you would surely be reached out for better opportunities faster.

If you manage to develop a high in demand skill then it’s your responsibility to place them on your LinkedIn like they are your trophies. Overhauling your profile and working on to improve it is lacking in the candidates these days. Start working on your profile and you would see the magic happening.
